TIL: Puedes platicarnos un poco sobre ti, ¿quién es Jeffe Kennedy? / Please, tell us a little bit about you, who’s Jeffe Kennedy?
J.K.: Nunca sé cómo contestar esta pregunta. Soy mujer (lo cual no todo el mundo sabe gracias a mi nombre) y he vivido en el oeste de los EE.UU. la mayor parte de mi vida: Colorado, Wyoming y Nuevo México. Tengo una formación científica, trabajo para una empresa de consultoría ambiental e intento hacer mi vida como escritora.
--I never know how to answer this one. I am a woman (which not everyone knows from my name) and I’ve lived in the West of the US for most of my life: Colorado, Wyoming and New Mexico. I was trained as a scientist, work for an environmental consulting firm and aim to make my living as a writer.

TIL: En tu opinión, ¿cuál es la mejor y la peor cosa de ser un escritor? / In your opinion, what’s the best and the worst thing about being a writer?
J.K.: La mejor parte es poder expresar el que llevas dentro, el esfuerzo, narración. Que la gente te contacte y te diga: oye, realmente me encantó esta historia. Y lo peor es todo lo contrario, el rechazo, la mala crítica. La única manera de superar la peor parte es no mirar.
--The best part is giving expression to the art inside, the striving, the storytelling. It’s having people connect with you and say, whoa, I really got this story. And the worst is the opposite, the rejection, the bad review. The only way to rise above the worst part is not to look.
TIL: ¿Puedes contarnos algo sobre Sapphire? ¿A qué público está dirigido? / Can you tell us more about Sapphire? What audience is aimed?
J.K.: Sapphire trata acerca de un encuentro sexual extremo. Que bordea los límites que dos personas pueden manejar. Yo diría que está dirigido a personas que están interesadas en lo que es ceder el control. O conseguir que alguien te de el control. Pasamos gran parte de nuestras vidas manejándolo todo. Se trata de aprender a renunciar a eso, aunque sólo sea por unas horas.
--Sapphire is about a sexual encounter that pushes the edge. That skirts the boundaries of what two people can handle. I’d say it’s aimed at people who are interested in what it’s like to give up control. Or to get someone else to give up control. We all spend a lot of our lives handling everything. This is about learning to give that up, if only for a few hours.
TIL: Si pudieras ser uno de tus personajes por un día ¿quién podrías ser y por qué? / If you could be any one of your characters for a day, who would you be and why?

J.K.: Ah, Feeding the Vampire es la historia de Misty. Ella no es una persona muy fuerte y capaz. Se las arregla para sobrevivir al apocalipsis por ser una cobarde y mantener la cabeza hacia abajo. Pero, cuando llega el momento de que su pequeña comunidad alimente al vampiro que accedió a protegerlos, ella es la única voluntaria. Esto se convierte en un punto de inflexión en su vida.
--Ah, Feeding the Vampire is Misty’s story. She’s not a very strong or capable person. She manages to survive the apocalypse by being a coward and keeping her head down. But, when it comes time for her little community to feed the vampire who’s agreed to protect them, she’s the only one to volunteer. This becomes a turning point in her life.

J.K.: Tengo una novela por publicarse en junio, se llamará Obsidian. Trata sobre una neurocientífica que accidentalmente cae en Faerie. Ella tiene que lidiar con todas las reglas salvajes, caprichosas y maravillosas, al mismo tiempo tratar de encontrar su camino a casa. Todo esto se complica por su deuda a Rogue, un Fae manipulador y peligroso, que quiere que ella de a luz a su hijo.
--I have a novel coming out in June, called Obsidian. It’s about a Neuroscientist who accidentally falls into Faerie. She has to deal with all the wild, whimsical and wonderful rules there, while trying to find her way home. All of this is complicated by her debt to Rogue, a manipulative and dangerous Fae, who wants her to bear his child.
